Haiti’s Tense Hurricane Ike Watch

Already blasted by three major storms, Haiti now braces for Hurricane Ike.

The news at the moment is hardly encouraging.

We’re watching the storm and awaiting more news from CRS staff in the country. Lines from the last emergency briefing echoed reports heard throughout the week: “The northern coastal city of Gonaives is now completely flooded. In the southern city of Les Cayes, water is at knee-level or higher.”
